One of the best products in its class, Norton AntiVirus deserves its excellent reputation. The threat of viruses is ever-present, and Norton AntiVirus effectively protects you from worms, Trojan horses, ActiveX controls, Java applets, malicious Word and Excel macros, e-mail-borne viruses, and more. Its AutoProtect works in the background to detect viruses in attachments before they can cause trouble. If you’re already infected, a repair wizard helps you get rid of the virus quickly and completely.

The program also performs comprehensive hard disk virus scans, which you can run either manually or on a predefined schedule. Most useful is the program’s “Live Update” feature, which lets you download remedies to protect you from the latest viruses.
You can scan incoming attachments in e-mail programs that use the POP3 standard (this includes Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape Mail). There’s also a bootable CD so you can recover your data if you have a severe virus infection.
Updates new to this version include protection against script-based threats, such as the “I Love You” virus. It is also now integrated with Windows Explorer, so that you can use Norton AntiVirus’s functions from within the Explorer menus.
All Norton AntiVirus versions were scanned with several antiviruses before adding them on this page.
