Developed for Mac computers, AdiumX is an instant messaging client that enables your computer operating system to interface with other programs, such as AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, MySpace, Lotus Sametime, Novell Groupwise and Facebook. AdiumX has so many features that it is no wonder this program is a popular download.
AdiumX is open source software, so that anyone can see how the program works. With 27 languages built in to the program, having multilingual translations and discussions online with friends overseas is easy. AdiumX supports multiple services, so you can receive and respond to emails from MSN Messenger, MySpace, Facebook, and Yahoo! Messenger at the same time.
The WebKit Message View allows you to configure your own themes for the different windows, so you will be able to see which program is sending you a message instantly. It has a very easy to navigate user interface with tabbed chat windows, so it is easy to flick between the different chat rooms you have on your screen.
With Mac OS X, AdiumX gives you full address book integration, so you will never lose a friend’s contact details. You can also combine your contacts so that each contact represents a person, not an account. Therefore, if your friend usually sends you emails through MSN Messenger, but is also on Facebook, you can merge both contacts to show the same person, even if the account name on the various programs is different.
You can even set up growl notifications so that you can control your time with the sophisticated calendar and events system. You can transfer files to your friends using AdiumX.
If you operate an older version of a Mac operating system, such as MacOS X 10.2, you will need to download an older version of AdiumX as the latest versions do not support the older versions of Mac. Version 1.0.6 is the last version to support Mac OS X 10.3.9, and you will need an even older version for previous versions of Mac. AdiumX 0.88 is the first version to run on both PowerPc and Intel-based Macintosh computers.
Downloading any version of AdiumX will give Mac users access to all the popular messaging programs and features. You can configure and customise the software and interface to show exactly what you want to see when you receive a message or chat online with your friends from all over the world.
